What is in a name?

A lot. Our names are the reflection our personality. I cannot imagine being called Tinni or Dolly. Those are cute names, but they fail to reflect the persona of the owner. A classic example is the theatre and television personality Kittu Gidwani. I find her an exceedingly graceful and talented actress. However, her name is a big disappointment.

I got a link from Khushee’s journal to a name analysis web site. I gave it a shot. Here is the summary of their analysis of the name Anupma.

1. Your first name has given you a quick, active mind, which has caused you to delve into many different ideas and theories. You have a desire for association with people and, since you have no difficulty in being spontaneous and expressive with others, you have considerable ability for discussion and debate.

I think – quick, active mind sounds good but I am not spontaneous and expressive.

2. You enjoy unexpected opportunities for meeting people, or doing things on the spur of the moment.

I think – Oh yes!

3. Where you have difficulty is in organizing and systematizing the handling of your responsibilities. Though you can work on any undertaking intently as long as it absorbs your interest, you cannot persevere when confronted by obstacles or by tedious monotony. Thus, your success in your undertakings is limited.

I think – This does not sound good but it is true that I tend to lose interest in the deeds sooner or later. I am always searching for something new. Monotony kills.

4. The tasks or activities you enjoy the most allow some form of creative or artistic expression. You will never tolerate a situation where your independence and individuality are curtailed.

I think – I like to believe this is accurate.

5. Conditions in your personal life can change very quickly to turmoil any time you are challenged, or when there is any friction or misunderstanding, because you can be very caustic and outspoken.

I think – This is absolutely correct.

6. There is an element of idealism in this name which makes you generous toward those who are less fortunate than yourself, and also causes you to uphold the rights of others. This name creates an over-sensitive nature that allows your emotions to be unduly aroused.

I think – ::smiles:: I like hearing good things about myself.

The analysis also talks of certain ailments that the name suggests. I have intentionally not reproduced that portion here. Not fun!

Go, give your name a shot.
